A short film collaboration
Working with digital artist Andrew Archer we brought to life his work with a short film based on his book - Edo Ball The Art of Basketball. The short film features his artworks inspired by basketball, Japan, NBA and pop culture. Each artwork is created from scratch and has a unique story behind it. Beautiful basketball art presented as museum quality prints on archival paper.
We wanted to bring a number of the artworks to life in animation, fused with live-action vision from the game. It's a story about a mythical land where great players who transcend the game go to play. The film features the Shogun Lebron James, The Splash Samurai Brothers, The Assassin Kyrie Irving, The Greek Freak, The Klaw, The Beard and The Fan.
Supporting the short film is an interview with artist and creator Andrew Archer, where he talks about how the artwork and book came to life.
The film and supporting content has been pushed out across ESPN as part of the 2019 NBA Finals across broadcast, online and streaming services.
